After being awake for 21 hours and 3 flights later, we finally arrived at our destination!!
We were met at the airport by, amongst many others, the President of the Rotary Club of St Clair, Hassan Nurrie, with excitment and an air of anticipation.
On the way to the hotel in Cahokia, we saw many of the local sites including the Cardinals baseball stadium and the St Louis Arch, both of which we will be visiting later in our trip.
After throwing our bags into our room we were whisked off by Steve and Jody to the local Grizzlies' baseball park to experience our first taste of Americana. When we arrived we were given a VIP behind the scenes tour of the stadium (including the male locker room!) and watched a college baseball team in action. The highlights for the team were the hot tub and the local delicacy of a bacon cheeseburger with the bun swopped for a Krispy Kreme donut - sounds great!!!!
After the tour we came back to the hotel and were treated to dinner by the St Clair Rotary Club as well as the District Govenor Greg Yank, Executive Assistant Govenor Bob Hardy and GSE co-ordinator Mary Beth Aguilar. At around 9pm (3am GMT - some 24 hours after we got up!) we made our polite excuses and collapsed into bed.
This morning we enjoyed a large breakfast at the hotel consisting of sausage meat burgers, scrambled eggs, fruit loops, mufins, toast and waffles with maple syrup!!!!!
We are now going to pop out and experience Walmart before being taken off for a picnic lunch and guided tour.
All for now.........
